Great day for The Bay
Being a USF alumni, and going to college in the Tampa Bay area when three major sporting events happened, (1. Superbowl held in Tampa. 2. Bucs winning the Superbowl. 3. The Lightning winning the Stanley Cup.) I have become a serious Bay area sport fan. (Except for the Devil Rays, but I hate baseball anyway.) Well this weekend was a major weekeind for all Bay area residents and fans.
1. The least important is the Lightning playing their first (although pre-season) game as Defending chapions (due to a strike last season) and winning 5-0 wich, for those who dont follow hockey, is a huge hockey win.
2. The Buccaneers, for the first time since Favre joined the Packers, beat Green Bay at home. Not only is this a big deal, breaking a 15 year streak, this puts Tampa at 3-0 wich they have not been for five years.
3. Most amsaingly, and I am sure very few of you watched (bescause the world does not reconise USF as a real team), or even cared about this game, but unranked USF beat #9 Louisville 45-14. Thirty points, SIX!! touchdowns. If USF is not ranked now, I will have lost all faith in the ranking system. When a team can not only win, but completly murder a top 10 team and not get ranked, then the system is truley three monkeys just picking their favorite team and then throwwing fecal matter at each other.
Now if only the Rays could do a little better, I may get into baseball.
